Excellent location--Just 3 mins walk from the tram station and the 足湯. The staff is helpful and kind, able to speak English. Truly great onsen facility--one at the ground floor the other at the top. The bath area is very clean and the onsen area, especially the outdoor one on the first floor, offers very refreshing experience of switching between hot (two truly hot onsen pool and one with mild, warm temperature) and cold (the outdoor air and the cold water pool). I ordered both the dinner and the breakfast, and both are excellent. The Japanese style room is also great, spacious and full of grass fragrances from tatami. The pillow is also filled with such stuffing with fragrance--and actually you can choose the stuffing the hardness of the pillow if you want to. Regret that I got lazy and didn't use this service. Would like to try next time if there's chances.

Location is a bit away from city center still it's convenience for our car trip, yet it's not too far since we can reach to any attraction places within 15-20 mins. and peacefully surrounding also meet our preference. The japanese style rooms are all good as well as many facilities inside the room, we have a separated toilet and baht room. The hotel is a bit old but still lovely and their onsen is very good to take a baht there before go to sleep, we love it. The breakfast and dinner is very good, there are plenty of food for breakfast and a Kiseki dinner is special. There is a small souvenir shop at the 1st fl. which we can buy many things as a gift.

breakfast was lovely , times to use the onsen were accommodating. From Hakodate station take tram number 5 and it’ll drop you off 3mins walk from the hotel. I forgot my charger and the hotel forwarded it to my next hotel free of charge. The staff were very nice and spoke good English. Chang was amazing and made my first ryokan stay a special one. The hotel does have a card machine, disregard what it says on booking.com.

I had the best sleep in YEARS, and I tried every climate, bed and pillow (okay, maybe not every, but I changed 16 countries/states in 2 last years). The whole place is just perfect: tattoo friendly public bath, tradition-inspired rooms. But the bed – is the true wonder! Thank you, Hanabishi team!

A very nice ryokan located right near a tram station. It's a bit far from the city center but the tram helps a lot. There was a choice between 2 onsens, a beautiful garden and a mini shrine in the hotel. I especially appreciated the futon laying-out service.
